 Watch you can swim with July 21, 2010

As I go swimming quite often and the clock were I go is not always working I wanted a watch that I could use in the pool. I do have an expensive divers watch (which looks great) but it is out of warrantee and if it were to fail would be expensive to replace. So I wanted a watch that I could wear swimming (so no great depth) is clear to read (I use goggles), looks good so I can wear it the rest of the time and would not be to expensive to replace. In addition I wanted a well known brand as some form of guarantee of quality.
So far I have owned this Casio six weeks it has been in the pool over a dozen times and works perfectly and fits all the criteria. In theory I should be giving it 5 stars but feel I have not given it long enough to have a thorough test. If it lasts a few more months, and I imagine it will, I will give it five stars.

watch backlight is very poor,need magnifying glass to read small dial at bottom of watch,otherwise not a bad buy at all.good value for money.

I only really bought this watch for holidays as it was not very expensive, so it would not be the end of the world if it were lost or stolen, I wanted a waterproof watch so I could swim with it on, and a resin strap for the same reason. I really like it on now and wear it more than some of my others! I am a bit of a collector and boast about a dozen watches, so I am quite particular. The only real criticism is that it is a bit complicated, setting the hour ahead for Euro time certainly took the plane journey out (and putting it back likewise on the journey home), and forget some of the other functions! That aside I really like it and think it excellent value,

The backlight does not illuminate the face so it is unreadable in the dark.
Not easy to tell the time at the bottom of the face in half light.
Too many functions at the expense of basic requirements.
I'm too old for it - I'll give it to my grandson when he's old enough and I'll buy him a torch as well !
