Amazon.co.uk Review Still driving people mad around seven years--yes, seven!--after his landmark Pop Idol win (it's almost enough to make you dewy-eyed for the early days of the Simon Cowell TV talent franchise), mainly by refusing to be typecast as a one, or two, or three (etc.) hit wonder and continuing to be so alarmingly consistent, Will Young returns with Let It Go, his fourth--yes, fourth!--album. Of course he's never quite so bold as to actually be alarming; it's easy listening, wholesome, modern soul-lite pop all the way from the former politics graduate, kind of like George Michael without the underlying tension, clawing requirement to prove himself or mind-boggling tabloid scandals. Any of that would just serve to muddy Will's waters unnecessarily, there's purity here like a ripple on the surface of a crystal lake that rebounds languidly to and fro across these 13 tracks, one that is reflected in and a necessary backdrop for his suave, mildly textured and famously powerful voice. There is the sense that he still might not be using it to its full potential as he sounds so comfortable throughout. --James Berry

Pure Calming Bliss November 3, 2008 Lisa Larkin (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have just bought this album after watching his performance on X Factor. Both my friends said it was worth buying, and I have to agree. I love it! Its a mixure of ballads and slightly more up tempo songs, which is perfect! My favourite tracks are Grace & You don't know, both outstanding. I have since bought this for my mums ipod on itunes, and she loves it. He's not been in the charts for a while, but credit to Will, a truly lovely albumn.

I'm not a big pop fan and live overseas so haven't seen any Pop Idol or X Factor. It's more the kind of thing my mum watches. I'd heard of Will Young as a concept but had never heard any of his music until I heard a tune on the radio, was singing it all day at work then had to do a search on the lyrics to find out who it was by! So I bought the album and ... wow. Amazing quality of production, lots of singable tunes, that beautiful and versatile voice. Can't fault it really. This is the album Maroon 5 wish they'd made. Thanks Will (and your mates)

Its difficult to find the words to describe this album, and I'm not good at expressing myself. But for anyone with a real love of music and a desire to listen to an album that will reach in and touch your soul, this is the one. Some of the tracks are simply wonderful, others more than that. When I first heard 'Tell me the worst' I had to stop the car. Its a wonder to me that Will is not yet a worldwide star. His voice and his talent are outstanding, and this album is a superb showcase for him.
I must be listening to a different CD!! October 28, 2008 G. Rees (Coventry, UK) 1 out of 10 found this review helpful
I must be the only person that's bought this album that thinks it's lame! I've owned every WY album and seen him several times so I'm not a hater by any stretch but this album is such a disappointment. It lacks the arrangement detail and instrumental interest that has made previous WY albums the pop classics they are. There are a couple of ok tracks but for me, it's very samey and lacks that jazz/pop grooves of previous albums. Let It Go sounds like the songs could have been written for any lounge singer.

I bought my daughter this for crimbo as she loves the track Changes. I was expecting a so so album as I had bought his other albums for her and thought they were OK. This has exceeded all expectations, every track is good, and most surprisingly Will writes most of his own music. I honestly love it and would give it 10 out of 10.
