Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.co.uk Review
Michael Jackson was still going for pop hits with 1991's Dangerous, but he also front-loaded the album with six straight Teddy Riley-assisted cuts. This half-hour swoop of tense, aggressive, often angular funk was Jackson's most interesting music since Thriller, and still sounds, well, invincible on this remastered edition. After that, the record's uneven, but there's nothing embarrassing about it, either. "Gone Too Soon", a non-Jackson composition about teen AIDS casualty Ryan White, is a quiet statement (particularly played next to the choir-laden "Heal the World", "Keep the Faith", and "Will You Be There") showing that the star doesn't always have to get showy. The sprightly "Black or White" is explicitly pro-interracial romance, an angle its video didn't go near, and the urgent "Give In to Me" is almost scary. Scary good, that is. --Rickey Wright

5 out of 5 stars A change of direction that was needed   October 27, 2009
C. Smith
Although 'Bad' was deservedly a huge success, Michael Jackson and some of his fans were disappointed with the result. It had not sold nearly as well as Thriller for a start and there was certainly nothing like 'Billie Jean' on it. So, for his next album 'Dangerous', Michael opted for a change in direction, replacing legendary producer Quincy Jones with more contemporary Teddy Riley. The result is a far more dynamic and forward-thinking album than 'Bad' was, as some of the tracks - 'Jam' and 'Black or White' for instance, still sound up-to-date today. All of the music on this album is solid and some of it, like 'Jam', is certainly pure funk...except perhaps 'Will You Be There' and 'Heal the World', which are a little self-indulgent and become a bit of a dirge after a few listens.

As it turned out, this album was amazingly just as commercialy successful (worldwide) as 'Bad' was, selling a similar number of copies. It does flow better overall and has a longer running time as well. There is also more solid single material on this album than on 'Bad'. Bear all that in mind and you should purchase 'Dangerous'...as well as being one of the most popular albums of all time, most of its material is simply great music.

4 out of 5 stars Under-rated   October 21, 2009
Destini120 (London, UK)
I think this Michael Jackson album is SO under-rated! It doesn't get the same amount of adulation as Off The Wall, Thriller and Bad and although of those albums I've mentioned are complete GENIUS - I think Dangerous is pretty damn good too! Stand out tracks for me are In The Closet, Remember The Time, Who Is It, Will You Be There and Gone Too Soon.

5 out of 5 stars Michael Jackson's Dangerous   October 18, 2009
Kiwi Anna
If anyone had asked me back in 1991 what I thought of this album I would have told them it's in the cupboard and that's where it's going to stay, I probably only played it twice all the way through until it came out of the cupboard on the 25th June 2009 and has been played on my car cd most days since then, along with Michael's other albums but if an album ever grew on me it has been this one. It's up there with Thriller and Bad without a doubt now, with such brilliant tracks as 'In the Closet' and of course 'Heal the World' to the heartbreakingly poignant 'Gone too Soon' and if it hasn't yet got a place in every fan's collection it should have. Give it lots of airplay if it doesn't inspire you the first few times, it will eventually.
