Have never used a electric shaver before, and wasnt sure which one to buy. After reading reviews i decided to go for this one. I am very happy with the product and shaves very well and smooth. Dont think i will ever use a manual shaver again. Was very happy with the speed it which it shaved, the battry life and it wasnt two heavey. However, like i said this is my first so i have nothing to compare it to. But if anyone is looking for thier first one or a new one, then i would happy recomend this one.

I bought this to replace an existing Philips coolskin shaver given to me as a present FIVE years ago, that shaver never let me down once, and despite Philips recommendation that you replace the shaver head after 2 years mine went on to do 5 years.
The HQ6990 is totally different to the cool skin, it's smaller, has a very nice comfortable feel to it, charges very quickly, cannot be wash cleaned, has a simple straighforward power cable as opposed to the cumbersome docking station for the cool skin,it does'nt have any need for gels or pouches, does'nt need a fancy trimmer that has to be fitted, it's just a bog standard shaver and being able to quick charge it or use it while plugged in is incredibly useful..
In Use it is very quiet and cuts very well, i have had no skin irritation as yet (possible due to my previous shaver).
This has got rave reviews on countless sites for a reason, not only is it exceptional shaver, but upon product registration i was given an extra year's warranty, free, which means it's now got a 3 years warranty.

I found the HQ6990 to be basic and cheerful. It certainly does what it claims. I couldn't fault the closeness of shave, I found the trimmer works well, and the battery charges in an hour or so and lasts for around 10 days in daily use.
Prior to this I used a Braun oscillating shaver, and on balance I'd say that it takes a little longer with the Phillips. As a negative, I found that it made my skin sensitive during the first week as I got used to it.
But overall I'm pleased. It does the job, and at the price I think it was a good deal.

I have used the Philips HQ6990 shaver for 3 weeks now and find it a joy to use. My previous one was a Philishave mains 545 which was old and noisy! The 6990 is far quieter, delivers a much closer shave, without irritating my skin, and has done 14 shaves before requiring a re-charge. I was worried that a battery powered shaver wouldn't be as good as a mains one, but the 6990 has performed just as well on batteries as the old Philishave did under mains power. It is very good value for money.

This razor was well worth buying, it gives a good clean shave and does not give razor burn like some i have tried. I would certainly buy another one like it.
