Not Suitable for Windows 7 July 7, 2010 Andrew Stedman (UK) Becareful when buying this game as it is NOT applicable to Windows 7 and the makers of the game have no date set for any patches to download.
Exciting times ahead..... July 1, 2010 The Dark Destroyer Only just received this game, which was obtained at a knock down price.
My only 2 gripes were that firstly, the disc installation defaults immediately to your C:Drive, if you want to put it elsewhere you need to click on the custom installation button and then type in the Drive number you want it to install to. This took 4 goes, before it responded to my demands. Secondly, you need to have the disc in your computer/laptop whenever you want to play the game, not really what I wanted, especially, if you are going to play for several hours, the disc becomes very warm after a time.
On the plus side, the graphics are excellent, the manual covers all the techniques and training with the help of "Beefy" Botham's verbal tuitions which were interesting to listen to. It takes a while to get to grips with the way batsmen and bowlers behave in defence and attack modes, but, practice makes perfect. The sound effects are brilliant and all in all it's very good, Cannot give it top marks though I'm afraid because of my personal preferences, but, as a new PC cricket game it's nearly there.....
Cricket September 13, 2009 Juan McGuinness (Ellan Vannin) Initially I really quite enjoyed this game however after a few short hours of play I became intensely annoyed with the difficulty swing between whupping kenya and getting bent over by the aussies.
My main gripe however is the inability to save the game mid test match which resulted in the PC being left on overnight.
All in all it is great if you love cricket but not great if you have a passing interest and want some fun
Best cricket game out in the market, by far. September 10, 2009 Umar L. Lone (Birmingham, England) Well, what can i say. Ashes 09 is great fun, brilliant graphics/gameplay. Anyone who loves cricket will enjoy this latest release from codemasters. 10 out of 10! Best game availabe in comparison to other EA or recent codemaster releases like brian lara so etc.. Don't waste time deciding on little things, purchase it and experience it for youself.
ashes 2009 pc August 17, 2009 W. Bennett (england) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have had lots of cricket games in the past, this is the best so far. It looks fantastic and is very easy to get too grips with. You can play all modes of cricket and with any of the test playing nations.
Gameplay is ok, over rates when you are bowling is down to about 5 an over with good bowling and fielding.
Some reviews have gone on about only getting the opposition out with runouts. I have found that I get a side out with all varities of outs, LBW, bowling and catches. On average only one run out per innings, seems realistic to me. The commentry tends to be a bit repetitive, graphics are fantastic with the grounds and the background looking fantastic.
Like cricket? BUY IT....
