5 out of 5 stars (Blood) thirsty work   April 28, 2009

Far from being 'rubbish', the infamous 'Key to Time' series was a mixed bag and threw up several memorable (in a good way!) stories. I love this one because it's so moody and atmospheric; Baker and Tamm play their roles splendidly whilst the sequence where the campers have their life forces sucked from their bodies is one of the nastiest and most effective (despite obvious budgetary deficiencies) in Doctor Who history. K9 also gets a bit more to do in this one and the location work makes a refreshing change from some of the story's studio-bound contemporaries. The mix of Gothic elements, paganism, and sci-fi works really well, and the icing on the cake is Beatrix Lehmann's turn as the ditzy professor Rumford; there is added pathos because the actress died before the story was even transmitted.

An excellent atmosphere and a first class script from a rubbish season. This story is underrated due to the story being in The Key to Time season. Tom Baker and Mary Tamm give a first class performance. This story is an all time great like The Tomb of the Cybermen. Purchase it. Well worh the money. Also have a look at The Armageddon Factor another classic.

An all time classic. From possibly the worst season of any Doctor Who. This story is underatted due to the reputation of The Key to Time series. Tom Baker and Mary Tamm give an excellent performance and definately worth buying. The title is not an obvious giveaway to the story. Very much has the atmosphere of a Patrick Troughton classic
