Only the hardest heart.......... January 13, 2008 Mr. Simon Crawford (United Kingdom. Norwich.) Only the hardest heart, or the least feeling of people would not shed a tear at Phantom of the Opera. One of the most beautiful and yet saddest of stories ever told. This is a good production. Not as good as being at Her Majesty's in the west end of London, but very good all the same. The story takes you to a place many of us have been, to a place of love and lust, of shattered dreams and broken hearts. A place where your heart strings are played and a love song sung with exquisite emotion. Cuddle up with your loved one, share a bottle of wine and a tear or two, and appreciate the good things you have in life, and possibly / secretly ponder those lost and left behind. Crying is not just for sissy's, it's a good and healthy release. I love this story, and the film version is as good as one can get without being at the theater, and a lot cheaper.

A Lavish Musical September 4, 2005 Mr. Andrew Moore (Worcestershire) 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
Lavish, Sumptuous, Wonderful, Excellent, Amazing... I have never seen Phantom on stage and didn't know exactly what to expect, but my wife has and so I went with her to see this at the cinema. Now we have it on DVD. In fact, I loved it so much I went and got it as soon as it was released; I simply had to see it again. From one of the earliest shots where the old, dust theatre filmed in black and white turns to its original full colour glory in one amazing camera move through the auditorium you know you're in for something special, and special it is. Well made, well acted and some good singing go together to make this a film to treasure and return to again and again.
Fabulous phantom June 19, 2005 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Gerard Butler is sensational as the Phantom and the film is a tremendous achievement. Even more exciting and sexy than the stage show. The music is wonderful. You'll watch it over and over again.
You have to watch this film May 27, 2005 I had always wanted to see the musical for years so when this film came out I went out and bought it on impulse knowing it would be good and I wasn't disappointed it was fantastic really deep and passionate, actors were brilliant couldn't have seen a better version. Well done to all of them especially Gerald Butler as the phantom you could really feel his pain, a must see for all.
