Amazon.co.uk Review This is the second of a series of exclusive-to-video feature-length programmes devoted to the seven actors who played Doctor Who in the famous BBC series. Patrick Troughton was the Doctor from 1966-9, and the actor having died in 1987, the programme is introduced by Jon Pertwee, the third Doctor. Apart from brief linking material presented by Pertwee, filmed in various places associated with the programme, there are clips from Troughton's appearances in such stories as "The Web of Fear" and "The Three Doctors". The bulk of the tape comprises three complete episodes. As a result of the BBC's destruction of valuable archive material, they are the only remaining segments of their respective serials. These are part of a Yeti adventure, episode two of 1967's "The Abominable Snowman"; episode three of "The Enemy of the World" (1968) and episode two of "The Space Pirates" (1969). While rewarding for the serious fan, watching isolated episodes from incomplete serials does take commitment, such that a booklet with detailed synopses would have made everything much more accessible. Even so, the sight of a Yeti in action or Troughton in the duel roles of the Doctor and the dictator Salamander remain notable pieces of vintage television history. --Gary S. Dalkin

This is a must have for all Dr Who fans. Patrick Troughton was a wonderful good strong Doctor. But sadly , many of his stories our lost and (apart from the Tomb of the Cybermen)none of his stories exist, but odd episodes do exist. And so,here's this video. With three random episodes, and a few clips with Jon Pertwee as your host. Jon Pertwee dose a wonderful host and introduces: The Abomniable Snowmen-Epiosde 2 The Enemy of the world, where Patrick Troughton plays the Doctor, and the dictator Sallamander in then same episode, wonderfully - Episode 3 and The Space Pirates- Episode 2 with clips from The Web of fear The Three Doctors-10th annivarsy story with Hartnell and Pertwee The Five Doctors-20th annivarsy story with Hurndall (Hartnell's stand in ) Pertwee Baker and Davidson And the Two Doctors-100th Story special with Colin Baker. With a glimpse into the BBC Lime Grove studios, that makes up this video. It's worth it.
Great actor - great Doctor. January 28, 2001 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is a good video. Only a handful of stories remain complete from his era as the Doctor (1966 - 69) but this provides an interesting assessment of the actor I believe was the best as Doctor Who.
Troughton is undeniably the best doctor July 12, 2000 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
What is there to say about this, we are treated to episode 2 of the abominable snowman - the only known existing episode. So what if the bbfc wiped most of troughton's stories, they still made them did'nt they and this tape shows doctor who at it's best. Buy this - you really won't regret it.
